GJEPC Organises MSME Seminar on GST and Banking in Mumbai’s Zaveri Bazaar

The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) conducted an MSME seminar on GST and Banking on Monday September 23, 2019 at Vimal Hall, Zaveri Bazaar, Mumbai. The programme was organised jointly with the Mumbai Suvarnakar Sangh and the Mumbai Wholesale Gold Jewellers Association.

Part of a series of similar programmes held across the country to promote the MSME sector of the Indian gems and jewellery industry, the seminar covered a range of topics to create awareness. These included GST, MSME & NSIC schemes, banking procedures and documentation, GJEPC’s Health Insurance and Parichay Card schemes and the benefits of becoming members.

The seminar was addressed by GJEPC’s Exhibitions Convener, Mansukh Kothari. A presentation on various aspects of GST and the procedures for each was made by Supreme Kothari of ELP, while Ajit Shah of Universal Connections explained different export-import procedures and documentation, bank loans and government subsidies which can be availed. He emphasized that in order to avail the benefits of the government’s bank schemes, it is very important to keep the company’s books of accounts in order and the balance sheet flawless, as this will help in procedures related to IT returns also.

Mithilesh Pandey of GJEPC gave an overview of the role played by the apex export body, the advantages of being a members and the various welfare schemes such as Swasthya Ratna/ Swasthya Kosh and Parichay Card offered by Council. He also apprised the attendees about MSME benefits, Udyog Aadhar registration and how these could be availed of.

Amol B. Gudadhe of Godrej explained the different services and devices the company can provide for safety and security of jewellery, while Tanmay Bandodkar of Edelweiss Insurance Brokers Limited presented details of the working of GJEPC’s health insurance (Swasthya Kosh) and Parichay Card.
