GJEPC Organises Seminar on E-Commerce in Association with eBay and Alibaba.com in Mumbai

The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) organised a seminar on e-commerce in association with eBay & Alibaba.com in Mumbai at the Bharat Diamond Bourse complex yesterday, January 22, 2019.

The seminar was held to provide information and knowledge to jewellery exporters and manufacturers about B2C and B2B exports from India through the e-commerce channel.  

Nitin Indurkar, Regional Manager, eBay, made a presentation detailing the opportunities for B2C e-commerce exports from India. He talked about the global markets which can be reached through e-commerce; and went on to speak about the importance of product display and promotion. He also provided details about documentation required for Customs clearance to sell globally; and provided the essential information required for carrying out e-marketing.  

Country Head A.L. Nahiyon, and Sarang Patel of Alibaba.com) made a presentation and shared details about conducting B2B exports through e-commerce from India. They said that Alibaba has a presence around 190 countries. They also highlighted   the benefits of using an e-commerce platform, and stressed its effectiveness.

The seminar, chaired by Ashok Gajera GJEPC’s Regional Chairman-Western Region, was also addressed by Manish Jivani, Convenor of GJEPC’s MSME Sub-Committee. The event concluded with a Q&A session.

The seminar marked yet another step in GJEPC’s effort to spread awareness, and provide information, about e-marketing with the aim of taking the gems and jewellery sector further down the road towards   digitalisation.
