GJEPC's Surat Regional Office Organises 8-Week Training Programme for CAD Jewellery Designing

The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council’s (GJEPC) Regional Office, Surat (ROS) today  launched classes for an eight-week training programme on  ‘CAD Jewellery Designing’  in Surat.

Organised under the ‘Kaushalyam’ series, the course has been created for students, freelance jewellery designers and trade members engaged in the jewellery manufacturing business.  In all, 22 participants, the majority of whom are women  are availing of this programme.  

The  programme will provide an introduction to jewellery designing software; and also include hands-on training and practice on software for creating jewellery designs.  The  participants  will not learn   designing, but will also be given information about various types of settings, for  different types of articles; weight calculations;  diamond charts  etc.

Those completing the course will be able to design jewellery using computer software from which a piece can be created using CAM, as required. 

The aim of the course is to help new entrants  launch their careers in jewellery designing; as well as enhance skills of  existing  trade members to enable them use technology effectively, in their regular business. 

The course is being conducted by Knowledge Partner, Indian Diamond Institute, also a project of the GJEPC.
