The Gujarat Regional Office of The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) yesterday hosted a seminar for member-exporters on the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) scheme and Free Trade Agreements (FTA).

The seminar was addressed by Shri Ghanshyam Soni, Dy. Commissioner, SHB, Surat, Shri Abhmaniu Sharma, Jt. DGFT, Surat and Shri Marut Tripathi, Dy. Commissioner, Ahmedabad Customs.

Shri Dinesh Navadia, Regional Chairman, Gujarat, GJEPC welcomed the guests and participants and briefly outlined the role of GJEPC in boosting the country’s exports. He said that GJEPC regularly organised seminars to create awareness about various government programmes.

Shri Soni then apprised members on the details of the AEO scheme. He outlined the criteria and process to obtain an AEO certificate, and the benefits that would accrue from doing so. Shri Tripathi further spoke about the process of approval and the types of certificates that could be issued under the AEO scheme. Shri Sharma discussed the concept of FTA, and elaborated on the various types of agreements and the benefits of each.
