Government of Zambia Renews Kagem Mining Licence

The Government of the Republic of Zambia has renewed the emerald mining licence of Kagem Mining Limited, Gemfields announced recently. With this renewal, Kagem now has the right to continue mining emeralds for a further period of 25 years, up to April 2045.  

Gemfields, a leading supplier of responsibly sourced coloured gemstones, is the operator and 75% owner of both the Kagem emerald mine in Zambia and the Montepuez ruby mine in Mozambique.

The Company also holds controlling interests in various other gemstone mining and prospecting licenses in Zambia, Mozambique, Ethiopia and Madagascar.
