HRD Antwerp Detects Grading Discrepancies at Mumbai Lab, Acts Against Parties Involved

HRD Antwerp CEO Peter Macken has announced that the laboratory has detected an instance of grading discrepancies in its Mumbai lab and that it is has initiated action against those involved. In a statement, Macken said that the singular incident involved a limited number of diamonds which were submitted by one specific client, and that the lab detected this as a result of its continuous and rigorous system of internal controls.

Macken said that HRD Antwerp has filed an official complaint with the local authorities and legal action against all parties involved, both internally and externally, has been taken. Simultaneously, the client involved in this case has been banned from working further with HRD Antwerp.

The statement adds that a limited number of diamonds concerned may have entered the market, and as a precaution, the lab will recall the certificates and recheck them free of charge. A list of possibly affected certificates has been published on the lab’s site.
