Largest-ever Round Diamond Presented at Auction to Feature in Sotheby’s December Sale

The Magnificent Jewels auction to be held at Sotheby’s in New York on December 5th will feature an extremely rare 110.92 carat round diamond -  the largest-ever round diamond to be offered at auction, the auction house said.

It is expected to sell for between US$ 4.2 million to US$ 6.2 million, according to auction house estimates.

Other spectacular diamonds will also be featured at the auction, including an exquisite 5.69-carat Fancy Vivid Blue diamond, with an estimated price between US$ 12 million to US$ 15 million.

Some magnificent jewellery pieces from a Distinguished Family Collection studded with vibrant rubies, emeralds, sapphires and diamonds, by Harry Winston and Van Cleef & Arpels, are among the other highlights of the show.

Sotheby’s is also presenting the inaugural Icons series, which comprises a collection of the world’s most coveted jewellery designs from the last 100 years. The auction house said that  among these are a decadent Art Deco bracelet by Cartier, enamel bracelets by Schlumberger and a playful gem-encrusted brooch by JAR. Jewels by Van Cleef & Arpels, Bulgari, Harry Winston and Verdura are among the other spectacular pieces in this lineup of iconic jewels.
