Lucapa Completes 5th Sale of Lulo Diamonds in 2017; Average Price Per Carat US$ 770

Lucapa Diamond Company has announced that it recently held the fifth sale of alluvial diamonds comprising a parcel of 1,236 carats from its Lulo Diamond project in Angola, which yielded gross proceeds of US$0.95 million or A$1.25. The project is a JV in which Lucapa owns a 40% stake, with the other partners being the government’s Empresa Nacional de Diamantes E.P. (Endiama) and a private company, Rosas & Petalas.

The Company announced that the sale achieved an average price per carat of US$770 or A$1,013.

With the completion of this sale, gross proceeds from alluvial mining in Lulo for the year now satnd at US$15.4 million (A$20.3 million) at an average price per carat of US$1,620 (A$2,132).

Lucapa said that this sale and the one immediately preceding it had diamonds primarily from Mining Block 28. It added that mining has subsequently returned to the higher-value Mining Blocks 8 and 6 following the end of the Angolan wet season.
