Lucapa Earns US$2.6 Mn From Latest Sale of Lulo Diamonds

Lucapa Diamond Company Limited’s latest sale of diamonds from the Lulo alluvial mine in Angola, of  a run of mine parcel weighing  1,736 carats has raised gross proceeds of US$2.6 million (A$3.9 million), representing an average price per carat of US$1,530 (A$2,265).

Including this revenue,  total  sales of Lulo diamonds to date in 2019 amounted to US$35.1 million (A$50.2 million); and realising  an average price per carat of US$2,090 (A$2,991).

“The latest sale is in line with Lucapa’s strategy to expand production and grow revenue generation at Lulo,” Lucapa stated.

The Company had earlier announced that a 46 carat Lulo pink diamond has  been exported by SML (the joint venture company which runs the Lulo mine and is a partnership between Lucapa,  Empresa Nacional de Diamantes E.P. (Endiama) and Rosas & Petalas)   to  Antwerp. The gem is currently undergoing studies for polishing; and a decision on the “optimal polished solutions” will be taken by the Lulo partners once the studies are concluded, Lucapa said.
