Merlin Recovers 35.26 Ct Stone -- Australia’s Fifth Largest Diamond

Merlin Diamonds, once a long-beleagured company, is  back on the diamond trail. The Company recently recovered a 35.26 carat brown diamond  – the fifth largest to be recovered in Australia –   at its  Merlin mine, currently  in its ramp-up phase.

Among the diamonds  recovered at the  same time  is a 14.6 carat brown rock; and several   smaller white diamonds.

The Merlin mine is well known for producing large diamonds of high clarity and colour. Australia’s largest diamond, a 104.73 ct stone  also came  from this mine.

It will be remembered that only last month the Company had recovered a blue diamond, which was believed to be the first blue diamond to be recovered at Merlin.  Though small, its recovery is indicative of the potential that Merlin has for producing coloured diamonds.
