MMTC Limited, the largest importer of precious metals in India, today opened its new office in the Sitapura Special Economic Zone (SEZ-2) in Jaipur and commenced supply of precious metals to jewellery exporters located there.

The first consignment of gold from the new office was handed over to representatives of Vaibhav Global Pvt Ltd by Shri V.S. Meena, who heads the MMTC regional operations there. Customs officials were also present on the occasion.

Shri Meena said that the problems that jewellery exporters in the zone had been facing due to the lack of steady supply of precious metals to meet their needs has hampered production in the past. But this would change now with the opening of the new MMTC unit, he assured them.

The new system that has now been put in place is a result of continuous efforts by the GJEPC’s Regional Office.

In a separate development, the DGEP today issued Circular for SOP’s for discharge of customs bond of nominated agencies as per recent discussions held by GJEPC with senior government officials including the Commerce Secretary and Finance Secretary.
