Mothae’s Latest Recovery of a 55 Ct Diamond Further Affirms its Place in the Big League

Lucapa Diamond Company Limited and the Government of the Kingdom of Lesotho (GoL) owned Mothae Diamond has just yielded up its fifth diamond of over 50 carats. The latest recovery of the 55 carat top colour diamond from the new 1.1 Mtpa Mothae kimberlite plant in Lesotho, has further affirmed the mine’s position as a producer of large stones.

This recovery is notable as commercial production at Mothae only commenced in January 2019 following the successful commissioning and ramp-up phases for the new 1.1 Mtpa plant and an earlier bulk sampling campaign.

Lucapa said it will be shortly presenting an update on the first quarter of commercial operations at the new Mothae mine as part of the Company’s upcoming Quarterly Activities Report for the March 2019 Quarter.
