Petra Gets Tanzanian Government’s Permission to Resume Exports from Williamson Mine

The brief shut down of Williamson mine earlier in the month, over a dispute on the valuation of a parcel containing totally 71,654.45 carats of rough diamonds, has been reversed.

Petra Diamonds Limited announced yesterday that it has received “authorisation from the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania (GoURT) to resume diamond exports and sales from the Williamson mine” in Tanzania.

“The exact timing and process for the next diamond parcel export to Petra's marketing office in Antwerp and subsequent sale will now be finalised between the Company and GoURT,” the Company revealed.

However, Petra added that there has been no resolution yet about the parcel of 71,654.45 carats from Williamson that was blocked for export by the Tanzanian authorities, as announced by Petra on  September 11, 2017.  As soon as possible, the Company said, it will provide an update on this matter.
