Senior Customs Officials Address GJEPC Open House at Jaipur, 12 Exporters Awarded AEO Certificates

Senior officials from the Customs department addressed an Open House chaired by Shri P.K. Das, Member-Customs & Special Secretary, Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC) and organised by The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) Jaipur yesterday. On the occasion, 12 exporters from various sectors were awarded Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) certificates.

The session was also attended by Shri S.C. Agarwal, Commissioner of Customs, Jaipur, Shri Sanjay Bansal, Addl. DGEP and Shri Manzoor Ali Ansari, Addl. Commissioner of Customs, Jaipur. Shri Pramod Kumar Agarwal, Chairman, GJEPC and Shri Nirmal Kumar Bardiya, Regional Chairman, GJEPC welcomed the guests and addressed the gathering.

The GJEPC office bearers and other committee members also held a separate meeting with Shri Das and others to discuss the concerns of the trade.

During the open house and the subsequent meetings, several customs related issues were discussed by the industry. Some of the key points raised related to issues of RMS at PCCCC, Valuation Panel at PCCCC, import duty reversal on diamonds, AEO status to Surat Hira Bourse, alternative model for ACC at Surat, Tolerance issue on diamond reimporting, etc.

Member Customs requested other industry members to apply for AEO certificate stating that it is a trust based voluntary scheme for the entire supply chain of exports and imports. Shri Das also assured the trade that he would look into all the points raised by the industry and prioritise them for resolution.
