Sotheby's Magnificent Jewels and Noble Jewels  sale in  Geneva on Nov 16 raked in US$ 136,428,215, which, the auction house said, was “the highest total for any jewellery sale this season”.  The auction also witnessed several records being broken.

The star of the jewellery sale was the Fancy Intense Pink diamond ring which beat its estimate of US$ 11,783,546 — US$ 14,726,938 to achieve  a sale price of US$  20,778,352.   

An  exceptional Sky Blue Diamond,  sold for  US$ 17,074,168 (estimated price:   US$ 14,726,938 — US$ 24,534,918).

Another  Fancy Intense Pink Diamond Ring darted well beyond its estimate of US$ 8,830,176 — US$ 13,749,133 to reach a sale price of US$ 16,232,308.

“New records were set for Fancy Deep Blue, Fancy Light Blue and Fancy Light Pink Diamonds – demonstrating the strength of the market for coloured jewels,” the auction house said.
