Surat Jewellers Enter Guiness Book of World Records for Ring With 6,690 Diamonds

The Guiness Book of World Records has a new entry from India with the names of two jewellers and details of their record-setting ring which boasts of having the “the most diamonds set in one ring”, says an article on the website of the world’s record keeper.

Vishal Agarwal and Khushbu Agarwal, both based in Surat, Gujarat, created the literally dazzling ring, in the shape of a lotus, in 18k rose gold and set it with – hold your breath --   an astounding 6,690 diamonds!

The lotus sits atop a base and was created by putting together 48 individual diamond studded petals.  At a little over 58 gms, it is slightly heavier than a golf ball, we are told.

The article on the Guiness website said that it took six months “to design and craft the intricate ring, which has been valued at US$ 4,116,787”.

While Vishal created the design for the ring, Khushbu put in the funds and resources to give it tangible shape. Khushbu’s  Hanumant Diamonds, located  in Mahidarpura, Surat, manufactured the ring.

Earlier, the record in this category was held – since it was set in 2015 – by the Peacock Ring, which is set with 3,827 diamonds and created by Savio Jewellery.

“The idea for Vishal and Khushbu's creation came from them wanting to raise awareness about the importance of water conservation,” the article on the Guiness website says. “They decided to use their work to generate awareness and settled on a lotus flower design because it is the national flower of India, and because it depicts ‘the beauty growing in the water-world’.”
