Swarovski to Launch New Range of Lab-grown Diamonds in 16 Colours at Haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris

Swarovski, the 125-year old Austrian company focused on accessible luxury jewellery with genuine and created gemstones, has announced that it will be introducing a new range of lab-created diamonds in 16 fancy colours at the Haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris this week.

These new offerings will be part of the Swarovski Created Diamonds offerings under which colourless lab-grown diamonds were first introduced a few years ago. The company has been best known for its precision cut crystal and wide selection of genuine and created gemstones.

Announcing the launch, Swarovski said that it was pushing “the boundaries of art and science” by offering what it described as “the most extensive assortment of hues available (in lab grown diamonds) on the global market today”.

“The 16 colours are arranged in four pillars, each referencing a creative field in which Swarovski has always played a vital role: Fashion, Art, Music & Architecture. Each of these four creative fields result in man-made wonders and expressions of beauty — just like a Swarovski Created Diamond,” the Company said.

It added, “2020 is Swarovski’s 125th anniversary, and this exploration of new materials and technologies marks the promise of a colourful year and future.”

Reports state that within each pillar there are four cushion-cut, laboratory-created diamonds, three of which are 1.25 carats each, and one of which, the "hero color," is 2.5 carats.

The four hero colours are "Androgyny Flamingo" (fashion), "Cubist Sky" (art), "Heavy Metal Cherry" (music) and "Gothic Cognac" (architecture), it was stated. “The colours come from a range of inspirations: the sky in a cubist painting, a gothic sculpture, a couture gown and the colours dominating a variety of music cultures,” Swarovski noted stating that they have names such as “Couture Dragon,” "Draped Fire," "Punk Lipstick," "Surrealist Butter" and "Electro Arctic."
