The Perth Mint Sells Argyle Diamond Coin Trilogy Within a Month of Release

Rio Tinto has announced that The Australian Trilogy, an AUD$1.8 million one-of-a-kind coin collection featuring a pink, purple pink and violet diamond from Rio Tinto’s Argyle Diamond Mine, has been sold by The Perth Mint. It was bought by an anonymous collector from Asia, the Company added.

The sale took place within a month of the release of the unique collection, which had been unveiled at the mint by the Premier of Western Australia, the Honourable Mark McGowan MLA.

Rio Tinto said that the collection had been produced by the mint in collaboration with John Glajz, an Authorised Partner of Argyle Pink Diamonds. The two have also collaborated to create a number of limited edition gold and pink diamond ingots and coins during the past five years, which have been in strong demand from investors, collectors and diamond experts.

Glajz said, “I am delighted with the sale of The Perth Mint’s Australian Trilogy. We have seen and continue to see, strong demand from this high end of the luxury market. The coveted Australian Trilogy speaks the language of exclusivity, desirability and collectability.”

Rio Tinto’s Argyle Diamond Mine produces virtually the world’s entire supply of rare pink diamonds, and yet less than 0.1 per cent of the diamonds produced by the Argyle mine are pink.

The Australian Trilogy will be exhibited at The Perth Mint until Monday 31 July 2017.
