World Diamond Council to Hold Annual Meeting in New York

The World Diamond Council (WDC) has announced that its 12th Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City from September 7-9, 2016. The meeting is being hosted by the U.S. Jewelry Council, a newly formed trade body to represent the views of the industry to the government and at key international fora. Participation in the AGM is restricted to members of the WDC and invited guests only.

The WDC is the body that represents the diamond industry in the Kimberley Process.

The meeting will take up many key issues for discussion including the Kimberley Process (KP), the implementation of the WDC’s first-ever Strategic Plan, and an enhanced communications platform.

Maurice Tempelsman, chairman of the board of Lazare Kaplan International Inc. will deliver the Keynote Address at the AGM session on September 8. Other high profile speakers from the diamond industry and government will also speak.

WDC’s Board of Directors will meet a day prior to the AGM and also after the open session, and the three day event will conclude with the Executive Committee meeting on September 9,  2016.
