Zimbabwe Government Delegation Discusses Trade Ties with GJEPC Committees in Gujarat and Jaipur

A high level government delegation from Zimbabwe led by Hon'ble Dy. Minister, Ministry of Industry & Commerce Mr. Raj Modi visited Jaipur and Surat where it held meetings with GJEPC Committee members and senior representatives of the trade. The discussions centred around strengthening trade ties between the gem and jewellery industries of the two countries.

The delegation had come to India to attend the India Gold & Jewellery Summit held in Delhi on November 23-24, 2018 and subsequently visited some of the key centres of the trade across India.

In his presentations at these centres, Mr Modi emphasized his government’s desire to strengthen long term trade relations between India and Zimbabwe, particularly in the G&J industry.

In Jaipur, GJEPC Chairman Shri Pramod Kumar Agrawal accompanied the Zimbabwe delegation on a visit to the Indian Institute of Gems and Jewellery, Jaipur (IIGJ-J) and discussed the possibility of students from Zimbabwe coming to India for training in jewellert manufacturing.

During the meeting in Gujarat, GJEPC Regional Chairman Shri Dineshbhai Navadiya said that feedback from the trade was that the reserve prices at the recent auction of Zimbabwe rough were on the higher side, and requested the Zimbabwe government to review the valuation process.
