The GJEPC launched Jewellers for Hope, its first large-scale philanthropic initiative, in 2014.

Each year, it organises a charity dinner that mobilises the entire Indian gem and jewellery industry into donating ₹1 crore towards a noble cause.

At a formal black-tie event attended by the who’s who of the industry, the raised contribution is presented to one or more NGOs/charities doing sterling work in supporting the underprivileged. In the case of multiple beneficiaries, the amount is divided among them.

The gem and jewellery export industry is a $41 billion business, employing over 5 million directly, and sustaining millions of dependents indirectly.

The members of this mammoth trade have believed in the deed of giving since decades by nurturing diamond workers in their respective processing units.

Several of the organisations chosen by Jewellers for Hope work to alleviate the suffering of, or impart dignity to, affected women or children.
