Transparency can Help Improve Liquidity said Bankers at the Antwerp Diamond Seminar

The AWDC’s Antwerp Diamond Seminar held on Friday 27 March saw Herman Van Rompuy, former President of the European Council presenting the keynote speech. “We need ‘more’ Europe”, said Van Rompuy. “The biggest danger today is an inward-looking fear of openness. We can only survive in a global world, but we have to draw all the necessary conclusions from this fundamental choice.” He also said that “Too much saving and not enough investment” could pose a problem.

Belgian Court Rules in Favour of Zimbabwe; Seized Diamonds Returned

After many months of legal disputes, the parcel of about 500,000 carats of rough diamonds that had been seized by authorities in Antwerp where they were to be auctioned last year, are now being returned to the companies that own them, the AWDC said in a statement yesterday.
