ALROSA’s Gornoye Alluvial Deposit Yields a 60.32 Ct Diamond

PJSC ALROSA, recently recovered a large 60.32-carat rough diamond from its Gornoye alluvial deposit, located on the left bank of Malaya Botuobiya river, 26 km south-east of Mirnyi.

The octahedron crystal, which has a transparent yellow hue, was recovered by the dredging method. Processing Plant No. 3, falling under the Mirny Mining and Processing Division, is the only plant in Russia that processes rough diamonds recovered by a dredging fleet.

“According to experts, the rough diamond costs about US$ 174.5 thousand,” said ALROSA in its announcement.

In 2016, Mirny Mining and Processing Division produced almost 5.3 million carats of rough diamonds which constituted a 21% share of all rough diamonds mined by the ALROSA Group.
