ALROSA Sells 51 Ct Dynasty Diamond, Largest in its Dynasty Collection

ALROSA announced that it has sold the Dynasty diamond – a 51.38-carat round stone, the central diamond of a five stone collection of the same name, through an auction. The other four stones in the collection were sold earlier, the Company said, and with the latest sale, the total revenue from the sale of the Dynasty collection has crossed US$ 10 million.

The auction was held at ALROSA’s own electronic trading platform on August 2, 2018.

Announcing the sale, ALROSA said that the 51.38-carat traditional round brilliant-cut diamond, D color (colorless), VVS1 clarity (with no inclusions), is the purest of all large diamonds manufactured throughout the Russian jewellery history. It has now officially become the most expensive stone ever sold by the miner.

The Dynasty collection consisted of five diamonds manufactured from a 179-carat rough diamond which was recovered from Nyurbinskaya kimberlite pipe in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in 2015. Besides the main Dynasty Diamond, other polished diamonds manufactured from the same rough included a 16.67-carat round brilliant-cut diamond, the second by weight, named The Sheremetevs; a 5.05-carat oval diamond called The Orlovs; a 1.73-carat pear-cut diamond named The Vorontsovs and a 1.39-carat diamond that was called The Yusupovs.

The collection was manufactured by experts from the cutting and polishing division of the Company – DIAMONDS ALROSA branch.

ALROSA CEO Sergey Ivanov said, “We are happy to announce the successful sale of the whole Dynasty collection. For ALROSA it was the first experience of creating our own collection of diamonds, of a road show in different countries worldwide, and of the sale at an electronic platform. Today we can finally say that this experience has become a success for the Company. The total revenue from the sale of the Dynasty collection amounted to about USD 10 million, which is in line with our initial estimates. We will keep on working and introducing new diamond collections to the market.”
