Diamond mining giant Alrosa has reported the recovery of two unusually shaped diamonds ahead of the New Year from its Severalmaz enrichment plant at the Lomonosov deposit in Arkhangelsk. One diamond, weighing just over 17 carats, resembles a Christmas bauble, while a 2.7-carat stone is shaped like a puppy.

The Arkhangelsk field, comprising six kimberlite pipes, is known for producing diamonds with distinctive rounded forms and rare shapes. Previous finds include a 38-carat stone dubbed Moroshka in 2024 and a 39.98-carat butterfly-shaped diamond recovered in 2022.
