GJEPC Chairman Attends India-China Gems and Jewellery B2B Matchmaking Event

The India-China Gems and Jewellery B2B Matchmaking event was organised by the India-China Trade Centre and was held on November 11, 2019 at Hotel Le Meridien, New Delhi.

The event was addressed by Chairman of The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) Pramod Kumar Agrawal. At the outset, the Chairman warmly greeted all present – including members from India, and those representing China’s gems and jewellery industry – and then proceeded to provide an overview of the Indian gems and jewellery industry.  Recently back from leading a successful delegation to China, he shared the experiences, and insights from the GJEPC’s visit to that country. The GJEPC had participated in the 2nd China International Import Expo; and an MoU was also signed between GJEPC and the China Gem and Jade Exchange in Shanghai during the course of the visit, he reported.

Agrawal invited Chinese manufacturing companies to set up their factories in India and assured them that the Council would extend their full co-operation and support for them to do so. He emphasised the need to strengthen the bilateral trade relationship between India and China in the field of gems and jewellery.

Other GJEPC members who attended the event included Ashok Seth, Regional Chairman, North; Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director; and K.K. Duggal, Director.

About 15 gems and jewellery manufacturing companies from China had attended the Matchmaking event in Delhi. These companies are primarily engaged in the silver and imitation jewellery manufacturing business. The “matching” Indian industry was represented by around 65 gems and jewellery exporters of the northern region who participated and interacted in this event.
