GJEPC & DGFT Hyderabad Hold Outreach Session on Trade Facilitation

GJEPC, in association with the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Hyderabad, held a joint outreach program on trade facilitation for the gem and jewellery sector on 29 September at the DGFT office at CGO Towers, Hyderabad.

The program brought together DGFT officials and industry representatives for discussions on expanding export opportunities and improving market access for Indian gem and jewellery businesses. Key areas included the benefits of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), e-commerce and cross-border digital trade, the Export Promotion Mission, government export promotion schemes and broader trade facilitation measures.

The session was attended by Dr. Sampath Kumar Reddy, Additional DGFT, and Shri Akshay, Joint DGFT, Hyderabad, along with Mahender Kumar Tayal, Regional Chairman – South, GJEPC, and Surya Narayanan, Regional Director – South, GJEPC.

An interactive question-and-answer session allowed GJEPC members and exporters to raise trade-related concerns directly with DGFT officials and seek clarification on export procedures, market access and government initiatives.

The programme highlighted the importance of continued industry-government engagement in addressing operational issues and helping exporters make greater use of available trade agreements and export promotion mechanisms.
