GJEPC Hosts Exporters’ Workshop with Focus on Logistics

The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council’s (GJEPC) regional office in Chennai hosted an Exporters’ workshop to discuss logistics and other issues in the city on July 23, 2019. The workshop was conducted by Dr. Nitin Seth from the Centre for Trade Facilitation and Logistics (CTFL), IIFT Delhi.

Nearly 50 exporters from the region attended the workshop where issues related to the logistics of trade in the gem and jewellery sector were discussed in detail.

The CTFL was set up in 2018 by Logistics Division, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India with one of its aims being to increase the competitiveness of Indian exports at a global level. It is currently working towards development of sector specific Logistics Performance Index (LPI-S) to help industries of different sectors pinpoint critical issues in logistics efficiency and related policy implications which would smoothen the process of movement of goods. Gem & Jewellery sector and its EPC are among the nine selected sectors / councils selected to work with CFTL.

After the workshop on logistics, a presentation on Parichay Card and on Swasthya Kosh health and general insurance scheme was done by representatives of GJEPC and Edelweiss group.
