GJEPC Launches New Mobile App

The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Councl took yet another step towards Digital India with the launch of its new Mobile App at the inauguration of Signature IIJS and IGJME, as already reported yesterday.

Introducing this latest initiative of the Council, Sabyasachi Ray, ED, said that it was the latest in a series of measures that helped align the activities of the industry’s apex body with the vision of Digital India put forward by the Hon Prime Minister.

Ray said the App would ensure greater and faster access not only for members of the Council but to buyers from across the world and all those interested in updates about the Indian gem and jewellery industry. The App will not only provide News and Updates, but also be an interface between members and the Council as well as between international buyers and the Indian industry. “Immediately all the features of the GJEPC’s website will be available through the App,” Ray added, and eventually these could be accessed from regsitered smart phones without having to log in separately on each occasion.

Over the last few years, many of the Council’s initiatives have used online interface through websites – whether it was the IIJS and other shows, Membership etc, and the App would greatly enhance the convenience of the interface, he added.

Shri Manoj Dwivedi, Jt. Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, welcomed the new initiative saying, “We are happy that GJEPC has unveiled its mobile app thereby creating a bigger identity in the virtual space. GJEPC can consider linking MyKYC initiative to the mobile app so that participating members can have a single interface to complete formalities.”

The App is available on both Anrdoid and iOS platforms and can be downloaded from the respective playstores or at http://bit.ly/GJEPCMobileApp.

Currently the App is available in both English and Hindi. Ray said that in the future, the Council may also make it available in certain key regional languages.
