The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) organised a four-day workshop in Surat on "Natural & Synthetic Diamond: Screening and Testing". The programme, which began on April 30, is being held under the banner of its ‘Kaushalyam’ series.

During the workshop, participants are being introduced to the difference in the formation of natural and synthetic diamonds, different types of synthetic diamonds like CVD & HPHT, etc. and the processes used in their synthesis along with the differences in the properties of natural and synthetic diamonds.

The workshop also includes sessions on screening and identification of synthetic diamonds, either in loose parcels or in studded jewellery with practical demonstrations in the use of various types of advanced equipment such as FTIR, LRS, UV-VIS, Diamond Sure, AMS, Quick Check etc.

The workshop is being conducted by GJEPC’s Knowledge Partner for ‘Kaushalyam’, the Indian Diamond Institute (IDI).
