A survey conducted for the Diamond Producers Association (DPA) by US-based analytics and insights company The Harris Poll, demonstrates that a clear majority (68%) of American consumers recognise that diamonds created in a factory are not ‘real’ diamonds, a statement released by the DPA yesterday stated.

ALROSA will hold an auction of rough diamonds of special size (+10.8 carats) in Dubai from May 27 to June 14, 2018. A total of 1,725 carats of gem quality diamonds of standard colour will be sold in 115 lots. “All the diamonds are the property of ALROSA and its subsidiaries, JSC Almazy Anabara and PJSC Alrosa-Nyurba,” ALROSA announced. “The largest 49.17-ct stone was recovered from Almazy Anabara deposits.”

World Diamond Council’s (WDC) Acting President Stephane Fischler; and Executive Director Marie-Chantal Kaninda, recently visited the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to meet with key stakeholders involved in the Kimberley Process (KP). In the course of their visit, Fischler and Kaninda met with the Chair of the Working Group on Artisanal and Alluvial Production (WGAAP); the Minister of Mines; the Center for Evaluation.

Mountain Province Diamonds Inc said in a statement released yesterday that its fourth diamond tender sale of 2018 achieved revenue of US$ 28.3 million (CDN$ 36.2 million), the highest total for any tender result to date. The Company said that 350,000 carats were sold realising an average sale price of US$ 81 per carat.

GIA India has relocated the classroom in Surat from where it has been conducting different types of courses in Surat to a new location at Piplod, the lab said in a release. The new classroom will enhance the learning experience of the students with its state-of-the-art facilities, the statement added.
