Fine jewellery brand, Artifex, headed by goldsmith Kindred Lubeck, makes its auction debut with a limited-edition capsule collection created in collaboration with Sotheby’s. The collection will appear in Sotheby’s Gem Drop Auction, open for bidding 10–13 November 2025.
The collection consists of three one-of-a-kind rings bearing Lubeck’s signature style: a 4-carat Old mine diamond, a rich 8-carat cognac Old mine diamond, and a vivid 5-carat blue sapphire.
Kindred Lubeck is a goldsmith, hand engraver, and vintage jewellery collector, known for her bold, narrative-driven approach to design. As the founder of Artifex Fine Jewelry, she merges traditional craftsmanship with a modern flare, creating bespoke pieces that celebrate sentiment, symbolism, and individuality.
Each stone, sourced by Jogani, is set in gold and features Lubeck’s distinct hand-engraving technique. Every detail is intentional, reflecting her dedication to craftsmanship and attention to detail.

The collaboration is a natural extension of Sotheby’s Gem Drop, the auction house’s monthly release of stunning jewels—featuring brilliant white diamonds, vibrant coloured diamonds and rare gemstones. Each lot is offered with no buyer’s premium, making the Gem Drop an excellent opportunity to acquire some of the world’s most beautiful gemstones at competitive prices.
By pairing Sotheby’s legacy in curating extraordinary, historically significant stones with Lubeck’s talent for transforming them into wearable works of art, this capsule collection combines heritage and exceptional design.
“I’ve always been drawn to the details, the things that make a piece feel truly special. Hand engraving allows me to leave a piece of myself in every ring, transforming each gemstone into something unique that carries a story,” said Kindred. “Working with Sotheby’s for this capsule gave me the chance to bring that level of care and creativity to a larger audience, and I’m thrilled to share these pieces with collectors who appreciate both artistry and individuality.”
Sotheby’s Head of Jewels, Americas and EMEA, Quig Bruning, stated, “Today’s buyers actively search for jewellery that speaks to them—pieces with a story, a sense of individuality. Kindred’s exquisite workmanship brings these jewels to life, elevating fine gemstones into designs that are unique, effortlessly timeless, and beautifully distinctive.”
Through this collaboration, Sotheby’s celebrates Lubeck’s mastery in bridging past and present by turning heritage materials into jewellery that’s truly bespoke. The capsule emphasises Sotheby’s commitment to artistry and quality, offering collectors pieces that are as meaningful as they are exquisite. The creative alliance between Sotheby’s and Kindred will evolve further in December, as two exceptional rings—a 5.14-carat Internally Flawless D colour diamond and a 2-carat orangey pink diamond— will be offered in Sotheby’s High Jewelry sale on 9 December.
