CSR Initiatives

C. Krishniah Chetty Foundation’s focus is to work as a catalyst to bring about sustainable change in the lives of underprivileged children and women in the area of healthcare and education. The company has adopted a structured approach to manage its CSR obligations. The company’s CSR will be aligned to Schedule VII of the Companies Act 2013 with a focus on education, health, skill development, civic improvement, and art and culture.

Construction of new school building: A new school building has been built with good infrastructure to accommodate more children from class I to VII in Govt. Higher Primary School, Dasarahalli, Bengaluru.

Renovation of heritage schools: Renovation of four heritage government schools has been done by the Foundation in Bengaluru.

Sponsoring science labs: Science education in India faces numerous challenges today. The first and the most basic problem that has persisted is the inability to ease the fear of difficult subjects like science. The foundation has sponsored science labs to help children in retaining knowledge and strengthening their basics for future by making learning fun.

Educational and inspiring visit to ASC Army Regiment Centre: C Krishniah Chetty Foundation organized a visit to the ASC Centre and College in line with the Republic Day celebration. This gesture and activity inculcated discipline, dedication and determination in young children and would help in understanding the ethos and way of Army life. This has also helped to inspire children to join the Indian Army.

Conducting Bharatanatyam dance classes: The foundation conducts Bharatanatyam dance classes for 15 government school children in Athiguppe Govt. School, Bengaluru.

Holding English literacy programmes: The foundation is conducting English literacy programme through volunteers in five government schools. They have also sponsored free donor passes for 800 underprivileged children to watch the play, ‘Bharat Bhagya Vidhata – The Journey of Mahatma Gandhi’.

Sponsoring free donor passes for underprivileged children: They have sponsored 1,000 free donor passes for underprivileged children to watch the hilarious musical murder play, ‘Lucky Stiff’ to generate interest among children for theatre.

Organizing No Bad Touch workshop: C. Krishniah Chetty Foundation organized a ‘No Bad Touch’ workshop for more than 500 underprivileged children in order to sensitize them about sexual abuse, and how to identify a bad touch, and ways to react.

Amazing Moments in CSR Initiative

Exposure to CKC showrooms: School children were taken to CKC showrooms and made to touch and feel the diamonds. The idea behind this activity was to inspire them to get motivated and pursue a career in jewellery industry, and, thereby, serve the people in the industry.

Exposure for selected children to the Army Service Centre and College: Selected children were taken to the Army Service Centre and College to expose them to the Indian Army training centre to motivate them to join the Army and serve the nation. They also provided opportunity to children to ride horses. The foundation also got the Army band and body builders to the school premises to perform and inspire children.

Inviting school children on breakfast with CKC employees: School children are invited to have breakfast with CKC employees on Retail Employee Day every year to give them an opportunity to mingle with the staff and have a nice time. They also organize cultural activities on the day and distribute prizes.

Conducting annual sports day: The foundation conducts annual sports activity for more than 400 children every year on Children’s Day and invites eminent sports personalities to interact with the children and motivate them to aspire to become one of them.

Scholarship programmes to selected students: Scholarship programmes will be provided to three selected students from schools to travel and do a short-term study course at the awardwinning organization ‘Students’ Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh’ (SECMOL), in Ladakh, Srinagar. The purpose of the scholarship programme is to achieve experiential learning from SECMOL, which is run by Mr Sonam Wangchuk, the Ladakhbased engineer whose life inspired a character in the Bollywood blockbuster, 3 Idiots.

Awarding women achievers of Karnataka: Women are the largest untapped reservoir of talent in the world. By recognizing and awarding such immense talent from all walks, categories and cadre of society, these awards will empower more women to free their creative self and shine. Special focus was given to differently abled women who have strong will power to do extraordinary things in their personal and professional life. Some of these differently abled women are working in the social and IT sector, and in other walks of professional life.
