GJEPC Launches Goldsmith Training Under PM Vishwakarma in Guwahati, Assam

GJEPC inaugurated the first batch of the PM Vishwakarma Training Program in Guwahati, Assam, on 9th November, taking a significant step towards empowering the skilled workforce in the Northeast region.

This initiative, implemented under the aegis of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, aims to uplift the traditional skills of goldsmiths and elevate their productivity in the gem and jewellery sector. The program’s inaugural ceremony was held at the Northeastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation Limited (NEHHDC) and was graced by Dr. Sriparna B. Baruah, Advisor at NEHHDC, along with other key industry stakeholders.

The training program, which commenced with a batch of 32 participants, will provide them with a comprehensive skill set, including modern techniques and tools. The government will also provide each participant with a toolkit worth ₹15,000 and a daily stipend of ₹500 for the seven-day training period.

Beyond skill enhancement, the PM Vishwakarma Scheme offers a range of benefits to artisans, including collateral-free credit, interest subsidies, and digital transaction incentives. Additionally, the program will facilitate brand promotion and market linkages to help artisans reach a wider customer base and expand their businesses.
