Ankit Gems Doubles Solar Power Capacity at LEED Platinum Certified Surat Facility

Ankit Gems, a leading manufacturer of natural polished diamonds, has taken a major step in its sustainability journey by doubling its solar energy capacity at its LEED Platinum certified facility in Surat. The upgrade increases capacity from 520 kilowatts to 1,023 kilowatts, enabling the company to generate around 1.12 million kilowatt hours of clean electricity annually. This expansion is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 944 tons each year.

With solar now providing 75% of the facility’s total operational energy needs, up from 50%, Ankit Gems has significantly reduced its dependence on conventional power sources. The company’s solar infrastructure complements a broader focus on eco-efficient practices and renewable energy adoption.

“The increase in our solar capacity is a step forward in our commitment to responsible manufacturing. It not only reduces our environmental footprint but also strengthens our long-term energy resilience,” said Mr. Priyansh Shah, Director, Ankit Gems.

Over the years, Ankit Gems has invested consistently in renewable energy and green building standards, reinforcing its position as one of the few large-scale diamond manufacturers actively implementing sustainability at scale. The move aligns with the growing global emphasis on responsible manufacturing, demonstrating how environmental stewardship and operational excellence can go hand in hand in the gem and jewellery industry.
