SRK Boasts Lowest Carbon Emissions in Diamond Crafting

Shree Ramkrishna Exports (SRK), a leading natural diamond exporter, has advanced its sustainability efforts, achieving the lowest carbon emissions in diamond crafting processes.

Independent verification by Deutsch Quality Systems (India) Private Limited has confirmed that SRK has reduced greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions per carat by 34% compared to the global industry average. This comprehensive assessment, conducted in accordance with international standards like the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and ISO 14064, encompassed the entire diamond supply chain.

As of November 2024, SRK’s natural diamond emissions per carat stood at a remarkable 70.49 kgCO2e, setting a new industry benchmark. The company plans to further reduce emissions by expanding its reliance on renewable energy sources, particularly solar power, across its crafting facilities.

“We are focused on creating lasting, purely positive impact, not just for our business but for the global natural diamond industry,” said Dr. Nirav Mandir, Chief Human Capital & Sustainability Officer of SRK. “By addressing Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions and now targeting Scope 3, we are building a sustainable future that will benefit both our industry and the planet.”

SRK noted that in May 2024 it was recognised as the world’s first company with Net-Zero Energy and LEED: Platinum Green buildings.
