In a bid to address a long-standing demand, the GJEPC New Delhi Regional Office recently organised a meeting with JS Customs at the North Block, Ministry of Finance. The objective was to advocate for the designation of Amritsar Airport as a Notifying Customs Port for the appraisal of jewellery directly at the port itself. Present on the occasion were Ashok Seth, Regional Chairman (North), GJEPC and Anil Sankhwal, COA Member, GJEPC among others.
During the meeting, the GJEPC delegation highlighted the urgent need to establish jewellery appraisal facilities at Amritsar Airport. Over the years, jewellers from Punjab have faced considerable difficulties while traveling to Delhi Airport for jewellery appraisal, particularly when exporting or participating in jewellery exhibitions abroad, they informed.
