Diamonds Do Good Concludes First “Diamonds Do Good in Action” Trip to Botswana

Diamonds Do Good completed its inaugural “Diamonds Do Good in Action” trip to Botswana, providing an in-depth view of the natural diamond value chain and the positive impact of diamond revenues on local communities.

Participants toured the Jwaneng diamond mine and a cutting and polishing facility employing locals, including differently abled workers. Engagements with government officials highlighted how diamond income has funded critical infrastructure such as roads, schools, and hospitals. The trip also included visits to the Okavango Delta’s landscapes and wildlife.

A key moment was the visit to Erba Farms, led by entrepreneur Tshireletso Seoromeng. Supported by Diamonds Do Good since 2022, Seoromeng expanded from a windowsill herb garden to a commercial farm supplying national grocery chains and employing six full-time workers. Attendees marked the opening of her new packing house.

“Seeing this level of progress Tshireletso has made right here in my home country is incredibly moving,” said Marcus ter Haar, Chair of the Diamonds Do Good Beneficiary Committee. “Diamonds Do Good is more than just a name. It’s a promise that the natural diamond industry is a force for positive change.”
