Burgundy Diamond Mines Limited is celebrating a significant achievement as its Ekati Diamond Mine, which has surpassed the 100 million carat mark in production. This milestone commemorates a remarkable 26 years of operation for the mine.
Kim Truter, CEO of Burgundy Diamond Mines, noted that Ekati remains one of the world’s premier diamond assets, with 140 million carats remaining in Indicated Mineral Resources, one of the largest unmined diamond endowments in the world.
Since its opening in 1997, Ekati has been a vital economic contributor to Canada’s Northwest Territories, providing jobs, generating revenue, and investing in local communities.
Burgundy Diamond Mines, which acquired Ekati in July 2023, has reaffirmed its commitment to working collaboratively with northern communities, government, and Impact Benefit Agreement partners.
