GJEPC met Mr. Saket Kumar, the newly appointed Joint Secretary, Department of Commerce, in New Delhi on 17th December to brief him on the Indian gems and jewellery sector and the Council’s activities. The delegation comprised Mr. Mital Doshi, Convener – Banking, Insurance and Taxation Sub-Committee, GJEPC; Mr. Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director, GJEPC; and Mr. Kewal Duggal, Director – Policy, GJEPC.
During the meeting, GJEPC provided an overview of the sector’s size, export landscape and key policy-related issues. The discussion also covered the Council’s role, ongoing initiatives and engagement with stakeholders to support trade, address industry challenges and strengthen the overall ecosystem.
