Shri Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director, GJEPC, met Shri Rajesh Agarwal, Commerce Secretary, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and Shri Saket Kumar, Joint Secretary, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in New Delhi on 29 January to congratulate them on the successful signing of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement, widely referred to as the “mother of all trade deals”. Shri Ray acknowledged their direct involvement in the India-EU negotiations and their contributions to advancing discussions on market access and trade facilitation. The meeting provided an opportunity to reflect on the FTA’s importance for India’s export-oriented sectors, including gems and jewellery.
