In a joint effort to explore e-commerce opportunities within the gems and jewellery sector, the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), alongside eBay and DHL, hosted an informative seminar at the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) on 18th January. The event saw active participation from industry leaders and experts.
Shri Anoop Mehta, President, BDB, extended a warm welcome and highlighted the significance of e-commerce in global trade. Stressing its potential, Mehta set the tone for the seminar, emphasising the need for the gems and jewellery sector to tap into the vast opportunities presented by e-commerce.
GJEPC’s Rajasthan Regional Director Shri Nitin Khandelwaal provided a concise overview of e-commerce, underscoring its critical role in the trade. He shed light on why embracing e-commerce is crucial for the growth and sustainability of businesses within the sector.
eBay delivered an insightful presentation, which showcased its role as a valuable platform connecting businesses with over 190 countries. The presentation detailed eBay’s account management and prioritised support team, highlighting their ability to assist in setting up accounts, product listings, marketing, and global promotion.
DHL, a global logistics provider, provided brief information on how their services can support e-commerce logistics. The presentation touched on the vital role DHL plays in facilitating the seamless movement of goods within the e-commerce landscape.
The GJEPC International Event department shared updates on various international shows organised by the Council. They also highlighted the India Pavilion, offering participants a platform to showcase their products on the global stage.
The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks from Shri Mehul Shah, Vice President of BDB, expressing gratitude to all participants and collaborators. The event served as a valuable resource for industry players looking to leverage the potential of e-commerce in the gems and jewellery sector.
