A delegation from the GJEPC Northern Regional Office held a follow-up meeting with senior Delhi Customs officials on 15 April to discuss and refine SOPs for import/export via personal carriage. The discussions, building on an earlier meeting on 9 April, centred around Circular No. 09/25 – Customs, dated 28 April 2025, with the aim of creating a clear public notice for the trade.

Key customs officials, including Mr. Dheeraj Rastogi, IRS, Principal Commissioner, Exports; Ms. Ashima Bansal, IRS, Commissioner, ACC Export; Mr. Vishal Pal Singh, IRS, Commissioner, Airport; Mr. Dibyalok Singh, IRS, Deputy Commissioner, ACC Shed; and Mr. Anuj Kumar Pandey, IRS, ADC, Airport; met with Mr. Antarpal Singh Sawhney, Regional Chairman – North, GJEPC; and Mr. Anil Sankhwal, Convener, Studded Jewellery Panel, GJEPC.

The primary focus was on optimising the draft SOPs for hand-carry jewellery exports through Precious Cargo Warehouse (PCW) Celebi, Delhi, to enhance efficiency and convenience for exporters. The GJEPC representatives presented practical suggestions to alleviate procedural hurdles and expedite clearance. A specific request was also made for a dedicated detention room for appraised parcels within the Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) cargo shed to save exporter time.

The customs officials, led by Mr. Rastogi, responded positively, assuring the delegation that their proposals would be considered. They also advised the GJEPC to engage with CWC authorities regarding the space allocation.
