The GJEPC’s Eastern Regional Office in Kolkata, in collaboration with the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) Kolkata and India Post, hosted an insightful seminar on “Shipping Export of Gems and Jewellery Parcels through India Post”. The event, which took place at Burrabazar in Kolkata on 12th September, received full support from the local jewellery association.
The primary objective of this seminar was to provide education and guidance to small-scale manufacturers and entrepreneurs involved in the gems and jewellery sector, particularly concerning the export of their merchandise through foreign post offices.
Mr. Anil Kumar, Postmaster General of the West Bengal Circle, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Distinguished figures such as Mr. U Swaroop, IAS, Director of MSME, Government of West Bengal, Mr. Abhijit Dutta, Assistant Commissioner of Customs, Mr. Krishana Prasad R, ITS, Assistant Director at DGFT Kolkata, and Mr. Pankaj Parekh, Regional Chairman – East, GJEPC, also shared the dais.
During the event, Mr. Kumar gave a presentation on the intricacies of exporting through foreign post offices and the procedures involved in this process. Representatives from DGFT and Kolkata Customs also took the stage to share their insights and expertise on the subject.
The session proved to be highly informative and beneficial, catering specifically to manufacturers and small entrepreneurs. With an audience of more than 70 trade professionals in attendance, the seminar was a resounding success.
