In a key development aimed at improving the export process for jewellery shipments, Mr. Antarpal Singh Sawhney, Regional Chairman (North) of the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), along with Mr. Ashok Seth, Member, Regional Sub-Committee, and Mr. Sanjeev Bhatia, Regional Director (North), met Cmdr Pawan Kumar, Regional Manager, Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC), Delhi Regional Office.
The discussions centred on the long-standing challenges related to the detention of hand-carried shipments at the Celebi Cargo Shed, Delhi, particularly the cumbersome issuance of Detention Receipts (DRs) after appraisement. Mr. Sawhney reiterated the concerns previously raised during the 15th April 2025 meeting with senior Customs officials at the New Customs Office.
Highlighting the need for faster and more efficient procedures, Mr. Sawhney stressed that streamlining the hand-carry process would enhance India’s competitiveness on the global stage and support increased shipment volumes, especially during key trade events.
