IIG Strengthens Global Education Links with Argentina Partnership

The International Institute of Gemology (IIG) has expanded its international reach by partnering with the Consulate General of the Argentine Republic in Mumbai and CAMYEN S.E. The collaboration was launched with a hybrid masterclass, “Introduction to Rhodochrosite”, spotlighting Argentina’s national gemstone.

The session featured CAMYEN experts sharing insights on the geology, mining, and trade of Rhodochrosite from the renowned Minas Capillitas mines. Dignitaries present included IIG CEO & MD Rahul Desai, COO Gunjan Sapra, Consul General Daniel Quer Confalonieri, and CAMYEN board members.

To symbolise the partnership, CAMYEN donated three kilograms of Rhodochrosite to IIG’s Specimen Library. Sapra noted the collaboration will pave the way for student exchanges, mine visits, and joint research.

Desai said, “Real learning must be imparted with expertise and context. Our collaboration with Argentina proves that shared perspectives are key to shaping the future of the gem and jewellery industry.”

The initiative comes amid rising Rhodochrosite exports to India and growing Indian investments in Argentina’s lithium and copper mining sector, reflecting stronger bilateral ties.
