Hong Kong-based jeweller Luk Fook recorded a turnaround with overall same-store sales growth of 30% in Q4 that ended 31st March, 2021 due to the low base effect and reduced gold prices.
Due to more effective pandemic control, together with the overseas travel restriction which helped to stimulate domestic consumption, the same-store sales growth of the Mainland market almost doubled (+93%) during the quarter.
Apart from that, the same-store sales growth of Hong Kong and Macau market also turned from a decline to an increase of 19% in Q4 as expected owing to the low base effect and the progressively relaxed border restriction, Luk Fook noted. As of 31st March, 2021, the group had a total of 2,294 shops including 2,212 “Lukfook” shops, 80 “Goldstyle” shops and 2 “Dear Q” shops in Mainland.
