Practical Roadmap for First-Time Exporters Takes Centre Stage

A session on Start Your Global Journey: Practical Tools to Become a Successful Exporter offered a clear, step-by-step guide for businesses looking to enter international markets. Held on 11 January 2026, the talk was led by Mihir Shah, Foreign Trade and EXIM Advisor, and focused on simplifying exports for first-time and aspiring exporters.

Shah stressed that exporting begins with intent and commitment, followed by building the right business foundation, including legal structure, registrations and financial systems. He highlighted the importance of a credible digital presence and outlined key regulatory requirements such as the IEC, RCMC and customs-linked banking procedures.

Product and market selection emerged as critical success factors, with Shah advising exporters to focus on specific, competitive products and targeted markets, while leveraging India’s FTAs for duty advantages. He concluded by emphasising compliance and documentation as non-negotiables, noting that procedural discipline is often the difference between sustainable export growth and failure.
