Sotheby’s Fine Jewellery Sale in Paris Achieves Record $8 Million Sale

Sotheby’s Paris has realised a historic milestone with its latest Fine Jewellery live auction, reaching an impressive total of $8,088,428. This marks the highest sale total for the auction house in Paris since 2018, with an enthusiastic crowd of 600 attendees and over 2,200 bids placed from global collectors. 

The auction featured 257 lots, surpassing 164% of their low estimates. Among the standout pieces was a Chaumet diamond brooch from 1929, which soared to €158,750, well above its high estimate. A Van Cleef & Arpels ‘Danseuse’ brooch also made waves, selling for €139,700, more than triple its projection. 

Spectacular gemstones took centre stage, with a pigeon blood ‘Single Red’ ruby necklace achieving €609,600, and a 17.48-carat pear-cut diamond ring fetching €546,100. 

Prestigious jewellery houses were in the spotlight, including Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier, and Boucheron, with pieces exceeding expectations. A Van Cleef & Arpels diamond necklace garnered €482,600, while a Cartier natural pearl necklace sold for €165,100.

A Boucheron Kashmir sapphire and diamond ring, circa 1950, exceeded its high estimate of €240,000, achieving €285,750.
A rectangular emerald ring, flanked by tapered diamonds, sold for €254,000, far exceeding its upper estimate of €150,000.
A pair of Fancy Yellow diamond and diamond pendant earrings by Van Cleef & Arpels, sold for €228,600.
An oval cut 6.60-carat Fancy Vivid Yellow diamond ring, achieved €228,600.
The three-row Van Cleef & Arpels necklace, featuring briolette-cut diamonds, sold for €482,600, exceeding its upper limit of €400,000.
A pigeon blood ‘Single Red’ ruby necklace sold for €609,600, twice its upper estimate of €300,000.
