GJEPC RO Delhi & Delhi Swarnkar Sangh Forge Alliance to Empower Jewellery Artisans

GJEPC’s Regional Office Delhi convened a meeting with the office bearers of the Delhi Swarnkar Sangh on 15th September for the purpose of empowering skilled artisans. The Delhi Swarnkar Sangh, an association dedicated to safeguarding the interests of jewellery artisans in the Karol Bagh area, engaged in a fruitful discussion regarding two major initiatives aimed at enhancing the lives of artisans.

The primary agenda of the meeting was to introduce the Parichay Card Scheme, a commendable initiative pioneered by the GJEPC, and to disseminate crucial information regarding the imminent launch of the Prime Minister Vishwakarma Yojna scheduled for 17th September, 2023. This visionary program is set to benefit artisans across various skilled trades, including the esteemed field of jewellery craftsmanship.

The meeting served as an initial forum to acquaint the artisans with the Parichay Card scheme and the necessary steps required for registration. Moreover, the GJEPC representatives attentively listened to the concerns raised by the Delhi Swarnkar Sangh, particularly regarding the distressing forced closures and sealings of their modest workspaces in 2018 during the previous administration led by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

In response to these grievances, the GJEPC encouraged the artisans to collaborate in addressing these concerns. The Council urged the Delhi Swarnkar Sangh to work closely with the Regional Chairman – North, GJEPC and the Secretary of the Delhi Sarafa Association, thus ensuring a unified front in pursuing their interests.

The Delhi Swarnkar Sangh has a membership of over 40,000 skilled artisans and plans to enrol 5,000 artisans in the Parichay Card scheme.
